Welcome to Zest of Zen! I’m a Kansas City native, born and raised just two houses west of the Missouri border and two hours east of our family farmland. I headed south for college and spent eight years in the heart of Dallas, Texas before my biggest move yet. I now proudly call Sydney, Australia my new home.
Growing up around the agriculture industry (family farms) I have a great appreciation for wholesome foods, fresh baked anything, and enjoying delicious meals with the people in my life. I’m a runner, foodie, proud middle sister, and lover of travel, outdoor adventure, brainstorming business ideas, porch swings, red vino, changing seasons, photography and healthy recipe creations. Cooking and cuisine is the heart of fine living, and Zest of Zen combines my loves and let’s me share them with you.
What’s in the name? The name incorporates Zest, both because it is a cooking term (zest a lemon) and also an adjective for adventure, enthusiasm, passion (zest of life). The Zen refers to the balance and “togetherness” of body and mind. So the ultimate goal is to share meals that are both balanced and adventurous.
From my kitchen staple superfood recipes and baked goods to creative and casual cooking ideas I hope to deliver a little Zest of Zen to inspire you to find your happy and wholesome self.
